Heart attack and other heart emergencies need quick tests and treatment. KEMH offers bed-side ECG and cardiac blood tests (Trop-T, Trop-I, CK-MB, Pro-BNP), thrombolysis (clot-dissolving treatment), temporary pacemaker, defibrillator and cardioversion, with a special CPR team.
Patients with lung problems get nebulisation, BiPAP, CPAP and high-flow oxygen, with ventilator support when required.
When to visit
- Chest pain or pressure, especially with sweating or breathlessness
- Very slow or very fast heartbeat, fainting
- Breathlessness on lying down or swelling of feet
